Weight Loss Companies Are Lying To You


Yes, you read that right. You are being lied to.


The fact is that there are hundreds of weight loss companies, diet plans, products and coaches who all claim to have the secret to you dropping that dress size or making that incredible transformation you’ve been after.


Isn’t it funny how they all tell you different things, surely if there was one amazing way, then all of these companies would be doing the same thing.


Every company wants you to lose weight with their product, but they don’t want you to know the real reason that it happened, that way you become dependent on it. If you become dependent, you become repeat business. Repeat business equals more money in their pockets.


If you lose the weight but don’t know what it was that made it happen, of course you are going to pile that weight back on. Then once its piled on you’ll try the next useless money-grabbing diet, and so begins the years of yo yo dieting.




If you take nothing else from this article, take these two words. These two words are the key to ALL fat loss and it’s the exact thing that these companies are trying to hide:


CALORIE DEFICIT


What is a Calorie Deficit?


Put simply, it’s you burning more calories than you put in. It’s simple thermodynamics, if you eat less calories than you burn off, your body will use its reserves, in the form of carbs stored in the muscles and liver (glycogen) and fat stored various places around the body. When it’s used, it goes.


So goodbye fat - it’s been a pleasure, but you’ve definitely outstayed your welcome.


Everyone who has ever lost weight, did so because they were in a calorie deficit.


Once you have mastered putting yourself in a calorie deficit, you will be able to lose fat and keep that fat off long term.




Let me explain how all of these different companies, diets and products are trying to put you in a calorie deficit without telling you that that’s the reason you are losing weight:

Atkins Diet


Definitely one of the most famous diets out there, the high protein and high fat diet that aims to make carbohydrates the enemy. Alienating them and telling people that they are the reason people gain weight. Actually, it just so happens that most of the high carb foods, are also high calorie. Things like pasta, bread, cakes and doughnuts are all high carb foods but also extremely high calorie. So naturally, if you cut out these foods, you will be put in a calorie deficit and you will lose weight.

It’s not the carbs, it’s the calories.

Juice and Meal Replacement Products


These companies will do the same thing, by removing high calorie foods for juice or whatever else, you will be put into a calorie deficit and you will lose weight. No question. The issue comes when you want to move back to solid foods, I’m sure you can guess what happens. You pile all that weight back on. Leading to more repeat business for these companies. They win, you lose.

It’s not the juice, it’s the calories.

Weekly Weight Loss Clubs


These companies employ different methods, each just masking the real reason that their plan seems to work. They use different systems like having a points allowance, which is essentially where high calorie foods are more points and low calorie foods are less. Funnily enough, if they just told you that the calorie content is what they are graded on, then perhaps people wouldn’t have to be lifetime members. Then again, from a business perspective, why would they want to stop you from being a lifetime member.

It’s not the points, it’s the calories.

5-2 Diet


This is a diet where you essentially starve yourself for two days and then have more freedom for the other 5. While there is some arguments towards the benefit of fasting, more research is required. In terms of fat loss, they are hoping for the same outcome. That by eating minimal calories on those two days, it should put you in a calorie deficit with your overall weekly calorie intake. That’s why you lose weight. Wouldn’t it just be nicer to not have to starve yourself though.

Once again, it’s not the fasting, its the calories.

I could literally insert any diet into this sentence and the final two words will be the same…


“The *insert diet here* works because it puts you in a…. CALORIE DEFICIT”
